Chick-fil-A Southaven Celebrates Reading Across DeSoto County for the Second Year
At Chick-fil-A Southaven, serving our community goes far beyond the restaurant doors. For the second year in a row, our team proudly sent the Chick-fil-A Cow out across DeSoto County to help celebrate reading and inspire young students during Read Across America week, held March 2–6.
Throughout the week, the Cow and our Marketing Specialist, Eva Ward, visited 12 different schools across DeSoto County, bringing excitement, laughter, and a love for books to classrooms full of eager students.
Bringing Stories to Life
During each visit, Eva read several beloved classics written by Dr. Seuss, including favorites like:
The Cat in the Hat
Fox in Socks
Horton Hears a Who!
One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish
The lively rhymes, silly tongue twisters, and imaginative characters had students laughing, participating, and fully engaged in the stories. Of course, the Chick-fil-A Cow quickly became the star of the show—dancing in the halls, posing for photos, and giving plenty of high-fives along the way.
A Week Full of Smiles
Each school visit created memorable moments for both students and teachers. Classrooms were filled with excitement as children welcomed the Cow and gathered together to enjoy story time. Many students asked questions about Chick-fil-A, shared their favorite books, and even joined in reading some of the rhymes aloud.
Beyond the fun, the purpose of the visits was simple but meaningful: encouraging children to develop a lifelong love of reading. Programs like Read Across America highlight the importance of literacy and remind students that reading can open the door to imagination, creativity, and learning.
Investing in Our Community
At Chick-fil-A Southaven, we believe in supporting the communities we serve—especially when it comes to education and youth development. Visiting local schools during Read Across America week is one of the many ways we partner with educators to make a positive impact.
Seeing the smiles, laughter, and enthusiasm from hundreds of students across DeSoto County made the week incredibly rewarding for our team.
Until Next Year!
After visiting 12 schools and sharing countless stories, one thing is certain—the Chick-fil-A Cow loves reading just as much as the students do. Chick-fil-A Southaven is already looking forward to continuing this tradition and bringing the joy of books back to classrooms across DeSoto County next year.
Because sometimes the best way to serve the community… is with a good book and a friendly Cow. 📚🐄
